I am interested in imagery that tends towards abstraction. My process is very intuitive. For thelast few years, beginning with the paintings I’ve mentioned, this has involved a female figure performing a series of gestures in an alien surrounding and constructed space. With my digital images and videos, this surrounding has included some ready-made visual textures or everyday objects that are both attractive and repulsive at the same time. When juxtaposed, these images do not have obvious symbolic overtones or even logical connections, but I hope it will create an immediate bodily sensation in the viewer: I want people to feel my images in their guts. I believe that this quality makes my work dream-like (or maybe nightmarish) and psychological.

SHORT DESCRIPTION

I begin with a moundof strawberries. These don’t have any definite symbolic meaning, but rather they evoke a number ofunspecified associations. They are, among other things, edible, beautiful, and sexual. During the courseof the performance, I drag these strawberries towards me, creating a retched muck that stains the bleach-white fabric below. In a desperate attempt to save them I destroy them.
